In an attempt to study of effects of 5-Fluorouracil on the growth of intestine in chick embryo, Authors injected 5-Fluorouracil into chorioallantoic sac of chick embryo at the sixth day of development. Number of columnar epithelial cells and villi and height of villus, thickness of muscle and serous layer in the surface of the cross section of the intestine
were measured on the twelfth, fourteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth day of development.
The results were summarized as follows;
1. Experimental group showed significant inhibition in the number of columnar epithelial cell and villis and height of villus on the development of twelfth, fourteenth and eighteenth day.
2. In thickness of muscle layer, experimental group appeared to be significantly lesser than control group at all stages during experimental period.
3. There was significantly inhibited in the experimental group on the development from twelfth day to sixteenth day, but not on the eighteenth day of development between control and experimental group.
4. Both control and experimental group showed remarkable increase in number of the columnar epithelial cell and villis, and height of villus after sixteenth day of development.
